Microdermabrasion in Ambattur, Chennai
Microdermabrasion is a superficial mechanical exfoliation procedure. It may temporarily improve the feel and appearance of selected surface concerns, but it does not treat deep scars or replace diagnosis-led care.

How microdermabrasion works
A controlled abrasive tip or fine crystals are used with suction to remove part of the outermost skin layer. The depth is much more superficial than ablative laser resurfacing, medical microneedling or a medium-depth chemical peel.
It is generally considered for temporary improvement in surface smoothness and radiance. Deep acne scars, active inflammatory acne, melasma and medical rashes need separate assessment rather than stronger abrasion.
Who may need a different treatment
Active infection, open skin, significant inflammation, recent procedures, fragile capillaries or medicines that alter skin healing can change suitability. A tendency to develop dark marks after irritation is also relevant, particularly when combining procedures.
- Active acne, rosacea or dermatitis
- Recent peel, laser or waxing
- History of pigment change after irritation
- Current retinoids and other active products
Session, recovery and results
The skin is cleansed before systematic passes are made over the selected area. Temporary pinkness, tightness, mild swelling or sensitivity can occur. Sun protection and gentle skincare help protect the treated surface.
Results are temporary and often require a series or maintenance plan. More passes or frequent sessions do not automatically produce a better result and can increase irritation.
What microdermabrasion cannot do
Microdermabrasion cannot remove deep scars, lift lax skin or permanently change pore size. If the concern is acne scarring, pigmentation or a persistent skin condition, the diagnosis and treatment target should be clarified first.
Questions patients often ask
Is microdermabrasion painful?
Most people describe abrasion and suction rather than significant pain. Intensity should be adjusted if the skin becomes uncomfortable.
Can it remove acne scars?
It treats only the superficial skin layer and is not expected to correct deep, tethered or ice-pick scars.
How long do results last?
Surface smoothness is temporary. Sun protection, skincare and any maintenance schedule influence how long the change remains noticeable.
Can it be combined with a peel or facial?
Sometimes, but combinations increase irritation risk and should be planned around skin condition, product strength and recovery time.
