HIFU Treatment in Ambattur, Chennai

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin for gradual collagen remodelling. It may suit selected mild-to-moderate laxity, but it does not reproduce a surgical facelift or correct every cause of facial fullness.

How HIFU treatment works

High-intensity or microfocused ultrasound devices deliver energy at selected depths beneath an intact skin surface. Controlled thermal points trigger a wound-healing response and collagen remodelling over time. The device, cartridge depth, treatment area and energy pattern must be selected for the patient’s anatomy.

HIFU is primarily a tightening procedure. It is not a general weight-loss treatment and should not be presented as a way to remove all facial fat. Fullness caused by fat, gland position, muscle, bone structure and loose skin requires different assessment and may not respond to the same method.

Who may be suitable?

People with mild-to-moderate laxity around the lower face, jawline, under-chin area or neck may be considered when they prefer a non-surgical option and accept a modest, gradual result. Significant sagging, very thin tissue, marked volume loss or expectations of a facelift-like change make HIFU a poor fit.

Assessment covers facial anatomy, skin condition, previous fillers or threads, dental implants, nerve symptoms, medicines, pregnancy and medical history. Active infection, open wounds and certain implanted devices or health conditions may require postponement or another approach.

What happens during a session?

The treatment area is examined and mapped before ultrasound gel is applied. Energy is delivered in planned lines using the selected cartridge. Patients may feel heat, tingling or brief sharp sensations. Session length varies with the area and protocol.

Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or altered sensation can occur. Most people can return to usual activities quickly, but individual instructions about exercise, skin products and pain relief should be followed.

Results and evidence

Change develops as collagen remodels, commonly being reviewed over approximately three months and sometimes continuing later. Systematic reviews report improvement for selected patients, but studies use different devices, protocols and outcome measures. Results are usually mild to moderate rather than dramatic.

Duration varies with age, baseline laxity, anatomy, lifestyle and natural ageing. A treatment should not be repeated automatically without reviewing benefit and tissue condition.

Risks and reasons to choose an experienced provider

Most reported effects are temporary, but burns, bruising, persistent pain, numbness, altered sensation, contour irregularity and nerve-related symptoms are possible. Accurate depth selection and knowledge of facial anatomy matter. Seek review for blistering, weakness, severe pain or symptoms that persist beyond the expected recovery period.

HIFU is considered for selected laxity concerns and should not be treated as a substitute for every texture, pigmentation or volume-related procedure.

Compare HIFU with other rejuvenation options

Questions patients often ask

Is HIFU the same as a facelift?

No. HIFU may create modest tightening in selected laxity; surgery produces a different degree and type of correction.

Are results immediate?

Some early change may be noticed, but the intended collagen-remodelling effect develops gradually over weeks to months.

Does everyone need only one session?

No universal schedule applies. The clinic should review baseline laxity, device protocol, response and whether another treatment is more appropriate.

Can HIFU treat a double chin?

Only selected cases may benefit. Fat volume, skin laxity and anatomy must be distinguished before recommending a treatment.
