What Botox treatment can address

Botulinum toxin may be considered for selected dynamic expression lines and other clinician-assessed indications. It is not a filler and does not replace volume, tighten loose skin or treat every type of wrinkle.

Assessment before treatment

The clinician reviews facial movement, asymmetry, treatment goals, medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, neuromuscular conditions, previous toxin treatment and any current infection. The exact licensed product and proposed plan should be explained.

Procedure, onset and duration

Small measured injections are placed in selected muscles. Effects develop gradually rather than immediately and wear off over time. Dose, onset and duration vary, so review should be based on the clinician's advised interval rather than early repeat dosing.

Side effects and red flags

Bruising, tenderness, headache, asymmetry or temporary eyelid or brow droop can occur. Urgent medical help is needed for difficulty breathing or swallowing, generalised weakness or symptoms suggesting toxin spread.

Questions patients often ask

Is Botox the same as a dermal filler?

No. Botulinum toxin reduces selected muscle activity; fillers add volume or support in selected tissue planes.

When will I see a result?

The effect develops over several days and is commonly reviewed after it has settled. Timing varies by product and individual.

Is the result permanent?

No. Muscle activity gradually returns, and repeat treatment should only follow reassessment.

Can anyone receive Botox?

No. It is a prescription treatment with contraindications and requires medical screening.
